The Summit Twilight Racing Series returns in 2013 following its inaugural year in 2012. Each of four races starts in Davidson, North Carolina and is followed by a Race Festival featuring live music, food, beer, and more.
New for this year: A point competition for all runners entering at least three of the races in 2013.
- March 16: Leprechaun Loop 8K
- June 8: Summit Solstice 4-mile Obstacle Challenge
- September 14: Summit Schoolhouse Rock and Run
- November 23: Twilight 5K Benefiting Movember
Signing up. Participants in any race in the series are automatically signed up, but you need to complete at least three races to qualify for an award.
Awards. We’ll give awards for the overall series champions (first through third place, male and female). In addition, you can win an award for finishing in the top three in your age group (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50+).
How it’s scored. Every participant in any of the races is automatically entered. You can earn up to 100 points per race based on your time; the first-place finisher for each gender gets 100, and the points for other finishers are based on your relative time. So if first place is 20:00 and you finish in 21:00, you get 20 / 21 * 100 points, or 95 points.
You get bonus points for finishing in the awards: 10 for first, 7 for second, and 5 for third overall, and 5 for first, 3 for second, and 1 for third in age group. You can earn an additional 10 points for completing all races in the series (and in this case, your worst race performance will be dropped).
We will tally up the points for each race and publish standings by Monday afternoon following each race.
If you notice an error in the standings, you have a week after each event to email us at email@example.com to let us know of the problem, and we’ll do everything we can to fix the error.
